Each year, approximately $2 million is granted through the Continuum of Care to Virginia Beach agencies that provide housing and supportive services to people experiencing homelessness.
The Continuum of Care (CoC) grant application process is a consolidated community application coordinated by the BEACH CoC and submitted to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) by Housing & Neighborhood Preservation.
The application provides detailed information regarding efforts the CoC has implemented to advance our work to prevent and end homelessness in Virginia Beach.
The completed application package will be submitted to HUD on Sept. 28, 2023.
HUD Continuum of Care funding supports the development and implementation of a localized homeless response system, to ensure homelessness is rare, brief, and non-reoccurring through coordinated community-based activities. Through a housing-focused approach, the goals of this funding are to assist households experiencing homelessness to quickly regain stability in permanent housing. These activities are designed to reduce the overall length of homelessness in the community, the number of households experiencing homelessness, and the overall rate of formerly homeless households returning to homelessness.

Existing CoC providers can use the funds to expand an existing CoC project.

Bonus funding applications are due by Wednesday, September 11, 2024.
Applicants will be required to present their proposed applications to the BEACH Community Partnership Governing Board on Friday, Sept. 13. Presentations will be scheduled in the order in which applications are received.
